Agent Flex
ELI5 - The Vibe Check
Someone posts in Slack that their agent just migrated the entire billing system overnight, unprompted screenshot included, three fire emojis, no further explanation. That's an agent flex: bragging about what your AI did as if the accomplishment is somehow yours too, which, depending on how much you reviewed it, it might not entirely be.
Real Talk
An agent flex is a public display, usually in a team chat, of an impressive-sounding result produced by an AI coding agent, often with the amount of human oversight left conveniently vague. It's a genuine new form of workplace status signaling unique to agentic development, and it occasionally invites a very pointed 'did you review the whole diff' reply.
When You'll Hear This
"Nice agent flex, but did you actually read all 900 lines it generated?" / "That's less of an agent flex and more of a confession, the tests are still red."
