Declarative Shadow DOM
ELI5 - The Vibe Check
Normally Shadow DOM, the encapsulated bit of a Web Component, can only be created with JavaScript, which is a problem if you want server rendered components to show up before your JS even loads. Declarative Shadow DOM fixes that by letting you write the shadow root straight into your HTML with a template shadowrootmode tag. Server rendered Web Components, finally, without a flash of unstyled everything.
Real Talk
Declarative Shadow DOM is a browser feature that lets a shadow root be attached to an element directly in server rendered HTML using a template element with the shadowrootmode attribute, rather than requiring JavaScript via attachShadow(). This enables Web Components to be fully server side rendered and styled before any client side script executes.
Show Me The Code
<my-counter>
<template shadowrootmode="open">
<style>span { color: blue; }</style>
<span>Count: 0</span>
</template>
</my-counter>
